Life Without Them
Isn't it funny that when we're in relationships, it's nearly impossible to picture life without them?
The cars we drive, the clothes we buy, and the food we eat; all are influenced by the people around us.
Imagine
Imagine the question: What do you want to eat for dinner?
Simple question. A question that only needs a short answer. Definitely not an essay question.
In the back of your mind you think:
- What am I craving? Burgers? No, I had that 2 days ago
- Will they like what I choose?
- Can I handle spicy food today?
Depending on how much you consider other people, this simple question leaves us lost in indecision. Our relationships give us reference points that guide our lives. Everything we think about relates to these reference points.
Life Without Them
We can't imagine our life without a loved one until we are living life without them.
We lose ourselves in others.
We forget how life was like before we knew that person. Plus, we struggle to imagine how life would be without that person.
The next time you're upset with somebody, try a simple exercise I call the Grateful 5.
The Grateful 5
You take 5 minutes and just imagine your life after your loved one no longer exists. Either he or she has died or your relationship has ended in some way.
1 of 2 things will happen.
- You appreciate him or her 100 times more, NOW
- You're relieved
If #2 happens, you should have ended things yesterday 😤
Do this simple exercise every day for 1 week and watch what happens.
